Since January of this year, Roy Lee has been at the helm of the North Carolina Pork Council as the chief executive officer. The North Carolina Pork Council was chartered in 1962 and is the oldest state pork producer organization in the nation that has operated under a mandatory checkoff funding system since its inception.

Roy Lee joined the Oklahoma Pork Council team as the Executive Director on December 1, 1998. At that time, the Oklahoma pork industry was growing rapidly elevating Oklahoma to a national top ten pork production state.

For the past 22 years, Roy Lee managed the day-to-day operations of the Oklahoma Pork Council, directed the Council’s promotions and served the membership, as well as handled all legislative and public policy issues. He also invested in Oklahoma youth through 4-H and FFA. For many years, Roy Lee was the “voice” of the Oklahoma Youth Expo and the Tulsa State Fair where he served as the youth swine show announcer.

Roy Lee came to the Oklahoma Pork Council from K-State Research and Extension, where he was a County Extension Agent 4-H Youth Development. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Communications and a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University. Today, he and his wife Melissa live outside of Raleigh, North Carolina with their teenage daughter, Elizabeth. As many of us have experienced, it is safe to say Roy Lee likes cooking for others and is very good at it. Plus, he enjoys playing golf in his free time.
