Join Us in Giving Back: Volunteer Opportunity on December 8th!

We are thrilled to extend an invitation to you for a special volunteering opportunity as part of the 2023 Oklahoma Pork Council Give-A-Ham campaign on Friday, December 8th, from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City. This event will empower Oklahoma 4-H and Oklahoma FFA members to contribute to the Pork for Packs program by packing essential meals for those in need.

It's an excellent chance for youth show pig enthusiasts to come together and make a tangible impact in our community. Please note, due to space limitations, we are only able to accommodate 125 volunteers for this event. Additionally, participants must be at least 12 years old, and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Your involvement will make a significant difference. To secure your volunteer spot and be part of this meaningful giveback initiative, please fill out the form linked below.

Pork for Packs utilizes donated hogs from Oklahoma 4-H and FFA members to create protein sticks for the Food for Kids backpack program for elementary students. This innovative program was started by the Regional Food Bank in 2003 when they recognized the need to help supplement children’s diets when the school lunch program was unavailable.

The program provides chronically hungry children with backpacks filled with non-perishable, kid-friendly food including the protein sticks to sustain them throughout weekends and school holidays.

Between the Regional Food Bank and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, the program serves 596 schools in all 77 Oklahoma counties, providing backpacks to more than 35,000 chronically hungry children each week.

Pork for Packs is a collaboration between the Oklahoma Pork Council, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Regional Food Bank and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Learn more here!
